Last night we had dinner with friends in a home straight out of a magazine. Or pottery barn catalog. Anyway, it really made me realize how empty our house is. As much as I want to keep it simple, there are some items we could really use to tie it all together (and give guests a place to sit). Plus, with birthday/christmas money I really don’t have an excuse!
I’ve been looking for a basket or other storage option by our two main entrances (front and side door) for shoe storage. We try to keep shoes off in the house, but it would be nice to have a handsome place to keep them. I think I’m kind of in love with this. And the fact that it’s only $39.99.
I kind of want to forgo my bench idea and copy Young House Love with this console and two storage ottomans beneath. You get storage, seating, and a flat surface for stuff/display. Hopefully it wouldn’t become the unsorted mail mess that I’d love to avoid.

This buffet from Target has good reviews and could be great in our entry with the temple print hung above. I still think it would be kind of fun to go with a red piece, but the only one I truly love right now is definitely out of our price range (at Pottery Barn).
